Prof. Dr. phil., Renata Gambino is professor for German Studies at the Department of Humanities (DISUM) University of Catania. Director of the transdisciplinary research centre NewHums (Interdepartmental Center of Neurocognitive and Humanities Studies); Past President of the Bachelor Course in European and Oriental Languages and Cultures at the University of Catania, she is also Member of the teaching staff of the PhD in “Science of Interpretation” at DISUM UNICT.
Member of the Erasmu+ project ENID-Teach, she is interested in innovative flexible teaching practices; as member of the COST Project E-READ, IS1404 – she has intensively worked in the Working Group about Emotions and Poetry at DINE Lab, FU Berlin. She is co-director of the international digital research platform for Neuro-Cognitive and Humanities Studies, www.neurohumanitiestudie.eu. Co-director of the book series “Wunderkammer” edited by Mimesis; Cooperative Member of the no-profit Association INGRESSO LIBERO (www.ingressolibero.eu) and member of the scientific Committee of the “Lamberto Puggelli Foundation” in Catania.
Main focus of her research in the last years: German literature of the ‘Goethezeit’, German travellers through Italy, literary anthropology, cognitive poetics, neuroaesthetics and in the last years she has been working at a new interpretative perspective called “neuro-hermeneutics”.
